West Nile Takes Gold

Sound sculptures, sound environment
terra cotta, tape loops, tape players, speakers
2004

Notes about pieces:

Nests:
There are two.
My voice mimics bird songs,
is sampled, pitch shifted, and
recorded onto tape loops.
The tape players are placed
inside the nests - which are made
of terra cotta and recycled materials.

Jungle Mix:
A second piece which is a
sound scape along the same lines as
the nest loops, only longer and taking into
account stereo panning.
The visual component to this piece
is simply the stereo and speakers.

Named because at the time, the West Nile virus was all the rage as was the 2004 Summer Olympics.
