Notes about work:
These are a few source images used in the installation.
This is what I call "patched graffiti". It is also called "buffed" which means erased or painted over graffiti.
I documented these occurences in neighborhoods around downtown San Diego, CA in the summer of 2000.
Through some trial and error, I eventually started shooting soley with slide film once I knew that I would project them onto surfaces of my own.
This documentation was the first step that lead to the need for the projection objects. I felt that the images were powerful on their own, but did not tell the intricate story that I wanted to tell.
